Doing the Dishes Traditional Cache

Doing dishes??  …. not the ones in your sink, everyone hates doing that… I mean looking for the satellite dishes hidden in the woods. There is a hidden radio / TV station in the Southeastern Corner of Manetto Hills Park right near the “Hamlet” housing development.  Spot the “Sat dishes” and the cache is close by! This nature preserve is called Manetto Hills Park.

This undeveloped parkland was  formerly known as the Shattuck Estate. The nearby Shattuck gold coast mansion was razed by Nassau county last year. Not only is the mansion gone, but also a nice cache that was there as well!

Directions to cache:    Park on the East side of Washington Avenue just north of the LIE.  Park a few feet north of a fire hydrant and you will find a trailhead.  (The “Marx Brothers” Cache is right here)  Take the trail East (uphill) and you will see a huge tower on your right. Soon you will spot the “dishes” on your right.  Do not go to the dishes or the tower, the cache is not there, as there is a posted sign that says “private property”.  It's uphill, just off the trail, no need to hop the fences.
