In questa zona si trovano parecchi ‘monumenti coppellati’ cioè massi erratici che sono stati incisi a ‘scodellate’ all’ incirca 6000 anni fa, ovvero durante l’età neolitica. I massi, che sono stato portati lì dai ghiacciai 20 000 mille anni fa, mostrano buchi e croci di cui nessuno conosce ancora Il significato. Uno dei più interessanti si trova al pian d’orano, un anfiteatro naturale a qualche passo della frontiera fra Italia e Svizzera.
Per favore, non attraversate I due ‘anfiteatri’, che sono di proprietà privata, ma seguite la via a sinistra fino al cartello che mostra il sentiero per il masso. Parcheggiate vicino alla strada asfaltata dove c’è un area picnic.
In this area you can find quite a few boulders incised by stone-age people around 6000 years ago. There are small holes (bowls) and connecting channels which may have presented the star formations or may have been used to hold liquids during rituals, and you will find Celtic crosses as well. The boulders (called ‘erratics’) themselves were carried here by glaciers about 20 000 years ago. This specific boulder is only a few paces from the border between Italy and Switzerland
Please stick to the paths and do not cross the two ‘amphitheatres’ which are on private ground. Parking is close to the main road next to a picnic ground.
