Delta Velorum (HIP 42913)
Delta Velorum is a white main-sequence star in the constellation Vela. At 80 light years away, it is the 45th brightest star in the Earth's sky, where it shines at an apparent visual magnitude of 1.93. Delta Velorum is a multiple-star system. It is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 12.7 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,000 and 33,500 light years from the center of the Galaxy.
