The cache is placed where you can see the 16 ft chain-link fence around a Cold War Warrior site. In the late 1950’s the Air Force chose South Dakota as one of the locations to base the nation’s nuclear arsenal with installation of Minuteman missiles. With a range of more than 10,000 miles the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, (IBCM), is aimed at the beginning of its flight and it is launched from a concrete silo. All of the South Dakota IBCM Missiles have been decommissioned. Former President Clinton had signed the bill creating a Minuteman Missile Historic Site to be administered by the Badlands National Park east of Wall, SD. The 25 acre- unit includes a deactivated Minuteman II Missile silo, its launch-control facility and a Cold War interpretive center. There is parking near the cache location. The container is not hidden on private land. It is too small for trade items; bring your own pencil. You need tweezers! Thanks and have a great caching day!
