Geocache Description:

Located at the N Tamarack Mine, #3 shaft.

The #3 shaft was a vertical shaft, dropping down 4596' before reaching the lode. The copper lode angled to the west, and this was a way for new companies to get to the copper. Existing mines started to the east where the lode hit the surface. New mines, start to the west, go down vertical, and then follow the lode, stealing the copper from the mines following the surface lode.

Come in from the north.  First you will find the ruins of the new hoist building.  Then the remains of the old hoist.  Continue to the south and you will find the shaft, poorly capped, but well fenced.

Sadly, the #4 shaft was the sad one. In 1966, a 7 year old girl playing by the shaft, and fell into the mine. (Please see the cache at that site for the details)
