Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the Edgar Felix Bike Path.  DO NOT ATTEMPT IT FROM THE PARKWAY!  Cache is log only, BYOP.  Please replace as found.

Many years ago there was a local band from Belmar called Holme, who had a popular, original song, “The Garden State Parkway Boogie.”  I never saw the band play, but heard of them frequently.  I believe they still play together locally during the summer.  If anyone knows the lyrics to the song, feel free to post them in your log.

Back in 1970 when Bruce Springsteen was with the band Steel Mill, they had a song (written by Bruce) called “Garden State Parkway Blues.”

“I got the Garden State Parkway Blues (I do)
Early in the morning, gets you without warning
Going to the job, fighting off the road hogs
Punch in at nine, punch out at five
Punch in at nine, punch out at five
Punch in at nine, punch out at five
Punch in at nine, punch out at five”

The above lyrics are for Steel Mill's live 24 Apr 1970 performance of “Garden State Parkway Blues” at Monmouth College in West Long Branch, NJ.

While searching for this geocache, you can watch people boogie-ing down the Parkway to the Shore, or…. maybe they got the Garden State Parkway blues.  (Try looking on a Friday evening during the summer!)

Happy Boogie-ing!

Congrats to B0NE for FTF!
