Kipling and the Big Red Paperclip. What a story that proves truth is truely stranger than fiction! It all started on July 12th 2005 and put Kyle Macdonald and Kipling into the world record books, more than once. It all started when Kyle traded a red paperclip online for a fish shaped pen and kept on trading up until his last trade exactly one year later. The stage was set for the blockbuster trade when actor/directer Corben Bernson traded a role in an upcoming hollywood movie for a "KISS" snowglobe. The movie role was offered online where it was traded for a house at 503 main street in Kipling Sask. The final trade was completed on July 12th 2006. Since then, Kipling has been in the spotlight. Thanks to Corben Bernson, the full length movie "Rust" was filmed there. There was also a commercial filmed in Kipling for Volkswagen in Spain. Along with the publicity, Kipling is now home to the world's biggest paperclip according to guinness book of world records. It stand 15 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 3,043 pounds. Imagine how much the paper would weigh if it was ever used! The Guinness book of world records also lists this as the "best inernet trade" Well, I would have to agree. Not long after starting geocaching and discovering trackables, I found a big gold paperclip app. 3-4 inches long, attacthed a travel tag to it and it's out there somewhere. It has been to the hoover dam according to one picture, and what is it's goal? But of course, to make it to Kipling and have it's picture taken with the big red paperclip at 503 Main street!
