Everybody knows about Dog River, but if you say Rouleau, some might not know the connection. And of course we must not mention Wollerton, (turn and spit). One of the greatest sitcoms ever produced in Canada and it is purely Saskatchewan through and through. It ran for 6 seasons, 107 episodes, won 6 Gemini awards and was niminated for for app; 70 other awards.
The last episode was on April 13th 2009, and that day was proclaimed in Saskatchewan "Corner Gas Day" and every April 13th there after. It was a sad day for all us corner Gas fans, but wait, There was great news today! (May 20th 2014) They are going to produce a Corner Gas movie. Woo Hoo!! And it sounds like they are doing it right, the Saskatchewan way. Totally filmed and produced in the province with all the original cast members. Filming is to start in late June 2014 and is slated for the theatres late 2014. Can't wait!
I've been to "Dog River" once to see all the buildings and sure enough, the elevator really does say "Dog River" I'll never forget when we arrived there and as we pulled up to the "Corner Gas" station, my son called out "hey, there's Hank's truck!"
