From time to time we travel this route between Tauranga and Auckland, sometimes returning the same day. We have got into the habit of stopping to find a cache or two as a good excuse to take a break from driving, and decided to place a few ourselves.
The cache is placed on Apata Station Rd. The East Coast Trunk railway line still runs alongside the road here, but nothing is left of the old Apata Railway Station. For more history of the area see this link. There are kiwifruit orchards and packhouses close by.
You are looking for a small container, containing a log book and pencil (there is room for swaps and TB's). There is parking available on the roadside, but please watch for muggles as there were several kiwifruit workers in the area when we placed the cache. The cache also contains one of the clues you will need to locate the T2A-R: Auckland Bonus cache.
FIRST TO FIND: Apteryx7. Congratulations!
