Old Fanari (Lighthouse) Traditional Cache

Geocache Description:



Take a nice stroll around the harbor and end up at the old lighthouse where you can have a nice ouzo, enjoy the view and then get your cache.
This is the red ( Left lighthouse ) at the entrance of the small harbor of Mytilene until the 60's when the bigger harbour was build.
Did you know that this harbour and the even oldest North Harbour, were connected with a sea channel ?
The magnificent large fortress on the top, has been build on an island and was connected to the mainland with some small bridges. .
The channel was covered in the 30's and Ermou street, the main market of the city, was created.

Stealth might be required, depending on the time you visit the place. Small Plastic container with logbook and pencil


Καντε μια βόλτα στο λιμάνι, και πλησιάστε στο παληό "Φανάρι", όπου μπορείτε να πιείτε ενα ουζάκι απολαμβάνοντας μια εξαιρετική θέα και το Hobby μας.
Αυτός εδω ήταν ο αριστερός, κόκκινος φάρος εισόδου για το παληό λιμάνι της Μυτιλήνης, μέχρι και την δεκαετία του '60, οπότε και φτιάχτηκε ο μεγάλος λιμενοβραχίονας και το τωρινό λιμάνι.
Γνωρίζετε οτι το πολυ παλαιότερο Βόρειο λιμάνι ενωνόταν με αυτό εδώ με ένα κανάλι θάλασσας; Το καναλι αυτό μπαζώθηκε μετά την Μικρασιατική καταστροφή και πάνω του χτίστηκαν τα καταστήματα της "Ερμού", του κεντρικού εμπορικού δρόμου της πόλης!

Ανάλογα με την ώρα που θα πάτε για την κρύπτη, θα χρειαστεί και να εφαρμόσετε τις ικανότητες σας για να μην γίνετε αντιληπτοί από τους θαμώνες, όταν ψάχνετε γιά το μικρό κουτί, που περιέχει μόνο μολύβι και logbook.
