C’est le plus vieux manoir du Boulonnais, édifié à l’origine en 1067 par Gonfroy 1er, seigneur de Marquise. Détruit par les Anglais, mené par Henry VIII, au cours d’un incendie en 1544 et le siège de Boulogne, il est reconstruit dans sa forme actuelle au XVIe siècle et vendu en 1568. Il restera propriété de la famille Frest d’Imbrethun pendant près de 400 ans.
Juste derrière l'édifice se trouce le moulin de la famille Taverne. Leur petit fils Henry Taverne, acteur fétiche de Sacha Guitry était Marquisien d’origine C’est à lui qu’on doit la chanson composée en 1936"Tout va très bien, Madame la Marquise. C’est en apprenant l’histoire de l’incendie du château Mollack qu’il a écrit ce monument de la chanson française.
