Construido en 1965, es considerado el primer monumento importante realizado luego del triunfo de la Revolución Cubana (1959). Se encuentra situado en la manzana compredida por Infanta, San Lázaro, Jovellar y San Francisco, muy próximo a la Universidad de La Habana, testigo del proceso revolucionario de los estudiantes. Por este motivo se realiza en 1965 un concurso para las construcción del Monumento de los Mártires Universitarios el cual fue ganado por el trabajo presentado por los arquitectectos Mario Coyula, Emilio Escobar, Sonia Domínguez y Armando Hernández.
Built in 1965, it is considered the first important monument after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution (1959). It is located on the square among the streets Infanta, San Lazaro, Jovellar and San Francisco, very close to the University of Havana, witness of the revolutionary process of the students. Due to this reason it is held on 1965 a contest for the construction of this monument, which was won by the project presented by the architects Mario Coyula, Emilio Escobar, Sonia Domínguez y Armando Hernández.
A menos de 10 minutos a pie de los hoteles Habana Libre y Nacional. Es recomendable ir bien temprano en la mañana (antes de las 8 mejor) pues el parque es muy transitado.
Less than 10 minutes walking from Habana Libre hotel and Nacional hotel. It is recommended to go early in the morning (best before 8 am) because the park is always full.
