Brookdale Covered Bridge in Stowe Vermont.
It was built for the Whitecaps Corporation Housing Development, at an approximate cost of $7,000.00. Emily's Covered Bridge (WGN 45-08-12) was used as a model to design the stringer bridge cover. A plaque on the bridge portal indicates the bridge's name is Brookdale Bridge, and it was built in 1964. The bridge originally had a hemlock shake roof, but it has been replaced with the current steel roof. The structure is supported by four steel I-beam stringers, set on poured concrete abutments with wing walls and its roof is supported by a simulated Howe truss. Barn red vertical ship-lapped boarding covers the portals and sides and there are two opposing horizontal window openings along each side that run nearly the length of the bridge. A concrete slab forms the floor and its red painted steel roof projects beyond the entrances to provide additional weather protection for the interior.
