The extended trolley line would be powered by electricity carried 35 miles from Long Island City to a transformer box located east of the new station house. Trolley service began to decline at the end of World War I, due to the cost of the war and the rise in the use of automobiles.
Directions to cache: Go the the eastern end of Spagnoli Road in Melville, a few feet west of Rt 110. Cache is located between a bank and a hotel. You may have a bit of a muggle problem because there is a long red light with “a no turn on red sign” at this intersection. You can park in either the bank or the factory, both are on the South side of Spagnoli Rd. To open the cache, you will need a dime from your pocket.
