Priceless Time is no longer with us but his spirit lives on in the many rural and tree themed caches that he created. Micro cache, bring your own pen/pencil. It is not necessary to go past the fence.
This reserve marks the site of an ambush of a Puketapu Chief and his party in 1854. A party lead by Rawiri Waiaua a Puketapu chief and 25 of his people were attacked by a faction lead by another Puketapu Chief Waitere Katatore on 3rd August 1854. This was a lead up to the land wars 6 years later, as a result of the attack 4 of Rawiri’s party died and a further 2, Rawiri and his brother, Paora Te Kop were fatally wounded. 10 others received wounds serious to minor. Several of Katatore’s party received only minor wounds. Beware of electric fence wires.
