Geocache Description:

Near GZ you will find Canberra's only tankengine turntable! Opened on 8-Sep-1887 this was part of the bustling Queanbeyan station complex. Alas, it is long forgotten, and out of use. This was a manual turntable - I would have loved to see it in action.

This is a significant location on the line, and is also the point where the Canberra Line branches off. The 90m station nearby had a dock at the up end. Opposite the station were several sidings, one of which became the branch line. At the down end is a pair of sidings, serving a loading stage, goods shed and engine shed. There was also a water tank and ash pit. By 1987 the loco servicing facilities were gone.
