This geocache is placed near a dis-used gold mine that you can walk into. The mine is right beside the road and you can't miss it. It is very old
On the day we visited this mine we crawled into the opening but you can stand upright once inside. Do so at your own risk.
We didn't stay inside too long or venture too far because of the mosquitos. If you do venture inside a torch is a necessity and some insect repellent would be helpful too.
The cache is hidden in a small tree up the slope behind the mine tunnel.
Another site in this area is where the steam driven stamping battery was established for crushing the gold bearing rock. You can still see the boiler and some associated installation relics at:
