Geocache Description:

The Space Museum Kids visited this site on a field trip at the reccomendation of the Museum Archaeologist and fell in love with it

This is a hunting camp at a site used by native americans for over a thousand years as well as by early settlers and current sportsmen.  There are twin pine trees that are over 400 years old and a limestone spring a few hundred feet up the canyon.

The Space Museum Kids were a group of student volunteers who helped out at the New Mexico Museum of Space History. The group has been disbanded and burroflatsman has taken over maintenance of the cache. This field trip was a little off the beaten space trail but the museum archaeologist suggested that they visit the site as a sidelight of area history.

Several existing fire rings are available for campers but observe all forest service fire restrictions as this is a high fire danger area.

It is a short drive off a forest service road that is fairly well maintained but may be rather rough in places.

Because of the frequent use of the area for camping the actual cache site is located a short distance away from the trees and spring. It is up a steep hillside that requires some moderate climbing.
