Turnul Spart Traditional Cache

The Broken Tower is located on the right bank of the Olt river.

[EN] The Broken Tower was built in the XV-XVI centuries. It was a fortification of the border between Transylvania and Valachia. The Tower from Red Tower Pass played an important role in defense against the Turks.
From the tower was built two walls - one to the mountainside, with archway in the road, and one up in the bed of the river Olt. It seems that the tower partially collapsed in 1553, and since then is called Broken Tower.

[RO] Turnul Spart a fost ridicat în secolele XV-XVI. El a fost o fortificație de graniță dintre Transilvania si Valahia. Turnul din trecătoarea Turnu Roșu a jucat un rol important în apărarea împotriva turcilor.
De la turn porneau două ziduri - unul spre coasta muntelui, cu un pasaj boltit la nivelul drumului, și altul pâna în albia Oltului. Se pare că turnul s-a prăbușit parțial în 1553, și de atunci se numește Turnul Spart sau Halbe Turm.

[HU] A Vöröstoronyi-szorosban, az Olt folyó partján található egy régi erődítmény, az úgynevezett „Törttorony”. A tornyot valószínüleg a XV. században építették. A toronyhoz csatlakozó, a szorost elzáró fal valószínűleg II. Rákóczi György rendelete nyomán készült a XVII. században.
A Vöröstoronyi-szorosban emelkedő torony fontos szerepet játszott a törökök elleni védekezés során.
Sajnos a torony hamar megrongálódott, de az északi és keleti oldalának két emelete 17 m magasságban ma is áll, a többi oldalon már régebben leomlott, az út jobb oldalán húzódó magaslat oldalában pedig a toronyhoz tartozó, a régi országutat lezáró kőfal maradványai látszanak.
