How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This is our first Letter Box cache and is inspired by a well known poem by Robert Burns. Placed just off the cycle track at Kilbarchan. In the cache box you will find a Rubber Stamp - this is the signature for this cache. Please take an imprint of the stamp for yourself if you wish to collect them in your own personal notebook. Then leave an imprint of your own personal stamp in the cache log book (if you have one), or simply sign as a traditional log book

There are two good parking spots for the cache. One is under the railway bridge on the main road through Kilbarchan. From here it is a short walk up the little lane next to the bridge where you will find an access point for the cycle track. Alternatively you can park off the roundabout at the bottom of the main road and you will find another access point for the cycle track across the road.

The cache box is unusual but appropriate to the theme and requires a key to unlock it. The co-ordintes will take you to the key and the cache box is then easily found and very obvious approx 20 paces north/west. Please lock the cache box after you have stamped the log and replace the key where it was found.

There is a themed geocoin in the cache so feel free to log this, but please do not remove it as it is integral to the cache. Additional clue for the box location is 20mtrs up the slope, look for a large fir.

The cache is inspired by the Burns poem who's first verse  is

O, my luve is like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June.
O, my luve is like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I,
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.

You are welcome to leave behind your tokens of love, letters or poems, or swap items that have been left (NOT THE STAMP or GEOCOIN PLEASE) but please make them appropriate to the cache theme.
