Geocache Description:

Sounds like a good book title.  HMMMMM

You will have to look hard to find these bells.  It may not be obvious, but it can be seen from this spot. There are 3 of them about a block away to the east.  Perhaps the number of bells represents the Holy Trinity. A newly built building nearby also has a bell. Can you spot it? In 2023 another church, a student center, was built here with a bell. Can you spot it too?

.

Parking is available nearby, please park legally. Muggle activity can be high especially during football/basketball season, so be stealthy.

The site of the First Christian Church  was established on the corner at 124 W. 7th St.  in 1898.  McNeff’s Pure Food Market was built in 1919 at that same corner.  The church then moved to the south west corner of Seventh and Husband from 1918-1969 when the present church was built.

Ringing of bells at weddings is a long tradition that can be traced all the way back to the Celtic lands, where church bells were believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits and grant wishes. Because of that, Celtic newlyweds were blessed with loud ringing of church bells before the wedding which would announce to anyone their new found happiness. In Scotland, wedding bells were rung at the conclusion of the wedding, just as the married couple was exiting the church. Tradition of ringing bells before and after the wedding successful spread all across the world, becoming one of the most famous part in the modern church wedding.
