If you have never done a Wherigo cache (for which you will get a specific Icon Type if found), this will be a great opportunity for you to experience this great program being developed by Groundspeak. Wherigo cachers visit virtual stages, like in the case of this cartridge, were they get to answer a question prompted (you may need to scroll the window down to display the information on the screen) at different virtual stage (coordinates will automatically be provided) and then move to the following stage. If you answer the question correctly, it will let you move to the next zone and if you answer the question incorrectly it will prompt you with some hints to help you "get it". Don't be scared. This will be FUN! and the same time you will learn awesome things about this complex.
Playing time will vary depending on the time you may spent walking and looking for the information. I am trying to make this as 'fail/surprise proof' as possible. If this is your first Wherigo, I suggest you download the Wherigo Application from the APP Store (just to make sure it fits with your available phone memory space) and also pre-register on Wherigo.com website (since you will need some email confirmations with the registration ) so the process may be easier doing it from home than from the location. You will be able to practice downloading the cartridge to your 'Pocket PC Devise' from home... even get it started. First time/set up is a little tedious, but once the APP is installed and you are register with the site, it will be a breeze to do Wherigo from now on.... So lets get going!!!
There are 6 virtual stages to visit were the cartridge will ask you an easy multiple choice question (remember you may need to scroll the screens to display all the information). The final zone will display the final coordinates were the cache is hidden. A fellow goecachers suggest to SAVE the game at each location, so you can start over from the last zone, and NOT have to start over from the beginning. When I have played other cartridges, I have taken a 'snapshot' of the screen. That way I don't have to write down the final codes to log the completion of the cartridge on wherigo.com. I also do not have to write down the displayed coordinates where the final is located. (Iphone, pressing the on/off switch and then the toggle button).
You will be visiting the Old Davie School Historical Museum complex. Their Mission is to "collect, preserve and interpret the heritage, culture, and history of the Davie community and western Broward County." There should be no fees incurred in order for you to complete this hide, but there will be if you visit the museum or homes.
At the posted coordinates you will find a Historical Marker with information of the site. You will see the Old Davie School and right next to it The Chickee dedicated between the Seminole Tribe of Florida and The Town of Davie, FL and an Honor Garden. You will be able to see the Viele House, the Walsh-Osterhoudt House and a Pioneer Settlers' House among many other things.
