"Do geocachers like peanut butter more than others, or do they just need the jars?" - Mike DeOtis (Source: GC2P2BA, "mikedeotis finds 1000!") As you may have guessed, you'll be looking for a regular-sized peanut butter jar, camo-style. My seven-year-old daughter really enjoyed helping me design the container.
Given the container size and popularity of the trail, we decided to hide it a little ways off the trail. Fortunately you shouldn't have to do too much bushwhacking. Should be more fun than difficult and still family-friendly. There seems to be quite a bit of signal bounce, but the cache is by a fairly significant beacon so hopefully that will help you out.
