A nice easy cache at Aubrey at the north end of Largs promenade. A great place to take the kids, walk the dogs and generally chill out in the sunshine - if you see it!!
Many moons ago this used to be a boating pond where you could hire wee peddle driven boats and hare around the pond trying to knock your pals into the water, a bit like the dodgems on water. It is very shallow so you just stood up. If you got caught you were hauled to the side by the man in the booth and told off. There were lots of swans at the mouth of the Noddle burn who used to use the pond for a dip which caused mayhem with the boaters and panic with their parents. As a kid I had a summer job with the burgh and tended the rose gardens and flower beds here. Pretty idyllic number really. Hopefully the burgh will get the beds back into some sort of order as the are a bit barren now.
The boats were kept in the shed but now it is used by the local model boat club. They have some pretty amazing models which they sail around the pond, (but no dodgems allowed!!).
Good spot to walk the dogs and sit and watch the world go by. There is a kids play park too./p>
There is parking nearby but it can get busy. On really nice days parking in Largs is a nightmare so head up off the main road and find a street parking spot at the North end of the town.
