Geocache Description:

Bald Eagle

National Symbol
Eagles have been the American emblem since 1782.
Their wing span stretches over 6 feet.

Fish Pirate
Instead of fishing themselves, eagles will often harass ospreys until they drop their catch.

Pumpkin Hill Eaglets
Each year, a nesting pair of eagles returns to the rich coastline of Pumpkin Hill Creek to raise their young. The chicks usually hatch in January and fledge in March and can be observed at a distance from the trails.

Cache is NOT located at the posted coordinates.

Follow the instructions below and keep your eyes to the clouds as you follow the trail to reach this cache. The eagle's nest sits high in the sky not too far from the final location. If you are watchful and lucky, you may even spot one in flight!

Letterbox Instructions:
At the posted coordinates you will see a blue arrow, blazing in the direction of the hot Florida Sun. Follow the light until you reach a large man made object. Approach the object and take a break, you've earned a little time off after hiking all this way. When you are prepared to continue your journey stand facing the front of the object from the trail. Now imagine it as a clock face. Looking past 12 on the timepiece you may be able to spot the Eagle's nest high, high in the trees either from near the object or continuing along the trail in pursuit of the light. Looking closer to 10 on the timepiece you might just find another admirer of these great winged beasts, taking shelter in a well hidden ammo can.

This "PHC" cache is one of a 14 part series that leads to a 15th, Final puzzle cache. The inside container lid and log sheet are both marked with a letter=number code, e.g. "A=7". Write down this code from each of the 14 "PHC" caches so you can use them to solve for the coordinates to the final, GC55TJJ. You will need all 14 and you are going to hike a long way to get them, don't forget any! A full listing of all 14 caches may be found on the Puzzle Final page.

This ammo can contains an interpretive card with information about the Bald Eagle. It is also contains a stamp and ink pad, which are essential parts of the letterbox hybrid. These items must remain with the container. They are not swag so please do not remove. Thank you
