Mrs nzkites grew up in this area and on a recent visit to the old family farm, we decided Te Kauwhata needed a few more cache placements.
Long Swamp
This cache is placed on the route into town, in an area known by the locals as 'Long Swamp'. There is room to pull off the road on either side but please be careful - passing traffic will be moving quite fast as there is a long straight piece of road near GZ. The cache is a small camoed sistema. When placed it contained a logbook and pencil only. There is room for small swaps and TB's.
The nearby stream leads to Lake Waikare, and the colour of the water shows evidence of the pollution that's also present in the lake. We were sorry to see how things have changed since Mrs nzkites last visited several years ago.
