Arzergrande (PD) è territorio ricco di storia: vi si ritrovano numerosi resti di epoca romana, di cui è possibile vedere testimonianza presso la Sala espositiva “Portus Aedro” del Comune – per info visitare il sito. In città si consiglia la visita della Chiesa Arcipretale di Arzergrande con un altare con pala della “Presentazione al tempio di Gesù” di Luca Longhi. Arzergrande ebbe fin dall’antichità vocazione agricola, come testimonia la presenza dei casoni sul territorio, un tempo abitazione dei contadini che lavoravano la terra: erano costruzioni caratterizzate dal tetto in paglia o canna palustre e pavimento in terra battuta, con piccole aperture quadrangolari. Nel Comune di Arzergrande erano presenti 120 casoni nel 1933, passati a 29 nel 1959. Il Casone Azzurro nella frazione di Vallonga è uno dei pochi rimasti in perfette condizioni: le stanze sono state arredate come un tempo per ricordare come si viveva e quali erano le attività che si svolgevano sia in casa che nei campi. In prossimità del casone è possibile trovare indicazioni utili sul territorio presso un punto informativo e di accoglienza per i turisti.

Si segnala altresì l’itinerario dei casoni che partendo dal Comune di Correzzola permette di giungere in bici fino ad Arzergrande visitando appunto il casone.

Arzergrande, in the Province of Padua, is an area with a rich history: you can find evidence of its Roman remains as you visit the Exhibition Hall “Portus Aedro” of the municipality – for further information click here. We recommend you to visit the Archpriest Church in Arzergrande where you can see a beautiful altar piece representing the “Presentation of Jesus in the Temple”, by Luca Longhi. Since antiquity Arzergrande is highly agricultural, as shown by the casoni, once used as home by the farmers who worked in the fields: they were small buildings made with a straw roof or reed and a beaten earth floor, with small quadrangular windows. In 1933 there were 120 casoni in the Municipality of Arzergrande, then in 1959 there remained 29 of them. The Casone Azzurro (“Light blue Casone”), in the hamlet of Vallonga, is one of the few which remained in perfect condition: the rooms have been furnished as in the past times in order to remind us of how people used to live there and which where the activities made at home and in the fields. Near the casone you can get useful information to discover the area at a local information and welcome tourist centre.

It is worth pointing out the casoni itineray: starting from the Municipality of Correzzola you will reach Arzergrande by bike and visit the Casone Azzurro.
