Collateral (2004) is a taut thriller from Michael Mann, featuring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx. Happening in downtown Los Angeles, a cab driver is taken hostage by an out of town hitman who must successfully eliminate his client's targets in a single evening. The film offers up Mann's typical action pieces, but there seems to an embedded message of esoteric loneliness, as evidenced by that great shot alluding to the "lone wolf." (or maybe I just really, really like wolves).
