La cache se trouve au sommet de cet ancien volcan éteint qui se culmine à 200 mètres d'altitude où vous pouvez admirer la vue à 360° depuis le piton.
DIRECTION :
Pour s’y rendre, après la commune du Marin prendre la direction de Sainte-Anne. Traversez deux ronds points toujours en direction de Sainte-Anne. A 1,6 km après le deuxième rond point, vous arrivez à un carrefour, tournez à gauche ( voir le Way point ). Continuez cette route (tout en longeant en contre bas le piton) à environ 1,250 km puis vous verrez sur votre gauche la ruine d’une ancienne sucrerie et un parking … nous y sommes.
LE SITE :
La montée est courte mais elle n’en est pas moins intense. Il faut compter au moins 35 mn pour y accéder, avec au moins 20 mn vertigineuse de marches. Avant d'y aller vérifier vos possibilités ainsi si vous êtes accompagné de jeunes enfants. Alors prévoyez de bonnes chaussures, de la crème solaire et de l’eau. Une fois sur le parking, deux départs sont possibles. Toutefois, nous vous conseillons de commencer par le chemin qui se trouve à gauche du parking.
Pas de balisage car le sentier est bien entretenue, avec des panneaux préventifs.
Le début de la montée du piton crève coeur commence plutôt calmement, mais les escaliers commencent à faire leur apparition. Le chemin est bien entretenu. Vous n’avez aucun souci à vous faire pour trouver votre route. A moins de 10 minutes, un banc se dresse devant nous … pour admirer le premier point de vue … Une fois proche du sommet, les chemins se séparent … Nous vous conseillons le point de vue du chemin de gauche (plateforme sécurisée) où la cache a été placé. Cependant, vous serez toujours à temps d’aller voir le point de vue à droite … abrupte de falaise.
Au sommet un panorama magnifique sur tout le sud, la marina du Marin, Sainte Anne, et de loin le rocher du Diamant ainsi que le Morne L'archer. Beaucoup de cactus, gommiers rouges, campêches, agaves, sur tout le long du parcours. Plus que des mots, je vous laisse admirer la vue à 360° depuis le piton crève cœur …
Le retour est quand même moins physique. Prenez votre temps pour admirer le paysage. En revenant vers le parking, vous trouverez une intersection au bout de 20 minutes de marche. Prenez à gauche pour aller visiter les vestiges de la maison de maître et un cachot à main droite et des fouilles archéologiques main gauche.
LA CACHE :
Une fois que vous êtes au sommet du Piton, La cache de taille moyenne est placée à quelques mètres à l'entrée du site. Faîtes preuve d'une grande discrétion car les lieux sont assez fréquentés. SVP remettez bien la cache à sa place d'origine. Vous êtes au sommet de cet ancien volcan, faites bien attention car vous êtes entouré de falaises et précipices.
