This Geocache marks the site of a US Air Force helicopter crash. On the evening of January 7th, 2014, the HH-60G Pave Hawk, call sign "Jolly 22", crashed during a routine low-level training flight. All four members on board perished. The courageous heroes who gave their lives for their country and proudly embodied the Rescue motto: . “These things we do…that others may live”.
The cache has been placed close to the crash site where a small memorial to the crew original stood. However due to tidal waves the memorial has been buried under shingle. Please do not climb down embankment to reach the cache. Observe any warning signs regarding nesting birds etc. This is a nature reserve, please respect the wildlife. There is no need to enter gates or cross fencelines. Please note this cache requires walking on shingle which can be slippery and move underfoot.
