Some caches were simply not meant to disappear forever!
The first incarnation of this cache was hidden in April 2001 by dnto (“definitely not the opera”). If it were still around it would be the second oldest cache in Manitoba (indeed it appears to have been the second cache ever hidden in this province). But alas, that cache was archived in April 2003 when the CO stopped caching. The-Stuntman came across that listing and noticed that the cache might still be there. And so in May 2005, two years after it was archived, he found it. After salvaging what he could from the original contents and giving it a more durable new container, he rehid it as a new hide that same month. That one was in place for 7.5 years and was found by over 270 cachers before it was archived in December 2012 due to unheeded requests for maintenance. I came across that cache listing a few weeks ago and, like The-Stuntman nine years earlier, I noticed it might still be there. Indeed it was, 17 months after being archived again! The container was in great shape except for being full of water. Most of the contents were thoroughly rusted, but the pen and logbook were salvageable, as was a clear bike reflector that was among The-Stuntman’s original contents. Given the history of this cache, it seemed only too appropriate that it be rehidden once more.
I have placed The-Stuntman’s logbook in the cache for reference and viewing purposes, but please sign your name in the new one. The first finder will be the 300th cacher to find a geocache at this site and have two TBs waiting for them.
Bring rubber boots! Approach from the west (see trailhead waypoint) for the easiest journey. The trail east of GZ is navigable but can get quite inundated. Closest parking is at Grant and Chalfont, to the northwest. Round-trip hike from there is about 1 km. Please close the lid tightly.

Congratulations to irzus and Highlander9 for your first ever finds!
