Geocache Description:

Easy to park at, or a short walk from the station, this cache is hidden in the grounds of St John's waterbeach.

A small box geocache, hidden at the lovely Church of St John the Evangelist, in Waterbeach. It was hidden by some of the children who worship at St John's, as there is a small group of them who enjoy geocaching together and wanted to have their own cache.

Cache placed with the kind permission of - St John's Parish Church

Congratulations to NiceDayOut for the 'official' FTF (Adrian Wright, who is first to sign the log book, is one of the gentlemen who maintains the Church grounds!)

St. John's is the parish church of Waterbeach, which is situated about 7 miles north of Cambridge, east of the A10 to Ely. The Church is usually open during the day and you are very welcome to visit,

It is an ancient foundation, with records of incumbents back to the 12th century. Parts of the church are Norman, and the church is adjacent to the site of a Priory which was the home of nuns of the order of St. Clare.

Denny Abbey is within the parish, and is open to the public. Begun by an order of Benedictine monks in 1159, Denny Abbey was later taken over by the Knights Templars. After the suppression of the Templars, Denny Abbey was taken over by the nuns of Waterbeach, who were living there by 1324.
