Rimóc is an ancient village of 1850 inhabitants in the Northern region of Hungary. It is considered the centre of the palóc culture and it tries to preserve and to show artefacts, costumes, implements and venacular architecture of the palóc people. The village is situated 5km South of the town of Szécsény in the county of Nógrád.
The main attractions are: The Village Museum, The Doll Museum, The Ethnic Headgear Exhibition, The Roman Catholic Church, and two small chapels at either end of the village. The village web site http://rimoc.hu/turizmus_latnivalok.html will give you further information on these establishments, although it is restricted to Hungarian.
The cache is placed at one end of the old venacular building that houses The Village Museum, screwed to a rafter. It is a small, grey plastic box 8cmx8cmx3.5cm in size. It contains one small logbook and a pencil.
Once you walked round the village and visited its sights, take a hike in the nearby hills where you might even find another geocache!
