Gap in the Houses Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

The wiggly's: Unfortunately, due to other commitments, we are having to reduce the number of caches we own significantly as it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain them all sufficiently. Hopefully geocachers will continue to enjoy the locations we chose for our caches as after all showing people new and interesting locations is what we believe the game to be about. In some cases, we may have added obvious mental or physical challenges to reach a Tupperware box! but that just adds to the fun (or frustration) ;).

We hope you've enjoyed finding these caches as much as we did placing them, creating the cache pages and reading your logs. Maybe one day someone will place a cache in this exact spot again and we can all enjoy revisiting and finding it!

Thanks for your kind logs,
Happy caching,
The wiggly's

Geocache Description:

Well the reason there is a gap in the houses is because in WW2 a bomb hit 2 houses located at GZ, now the area is just some vegetation and a cut through on to priory road from Dayton road

The reason the houses where hit was because in WW2 hull was badly bombed as it was one of the busiest shipping towns in the country. The enemy's tried to stop goods from abroad reaching Brittan this was known as the blitz.

if you are attempting this during the day you will need to be careful to not be seen but overall this cache is very easy

Some added information by Busy Lissy Bunch 'Not only was Hull an important target or the port but also because the radiator factory on National Avenue (the part that is now Stelrad but was Ideal Boiler and Radiator Company) had become a munitions factory. Despite the German's best efforts, not a single bomb came near to hitting the factory and in the company's minutes, the workers are praised for coming in despite sleepless nights in air raid shelters or even after having their own homes bombed.' Thanks for the added info but anyone else with info please add it to your log and we will put it on the page.
