I DECIDED TO DO THIS BIRD TRAIL IN YELLOWWOOD PARK, SEEING THAT ALL STREETS ARE NAMED AFTER BIRDS. I HOPE PEOPLE WILL BECOME MORE AWARE OF THESE BEAUTIFUL BIRDS WHICH WE SEE EVERY DAY AND TAKE FOR GRANTED... IT OPENED MY EYES.

Don't forget to treat this birdie like you would like your cache to be treated.

BACKYARD TIP

Fill your backyard feeders with small, black oil sunflower seed.

If House  Finches discover  your feeders, they might bring flocks of

up to 50 birds to the feeders.

QUICK FACTS

The red-headed finch also known as the paradise finch

is a common species found in Africa

The Red Heads have very messy nests.

Both the male and female share in the incubation duties.

Clutches range from 4-8 eggs with 5 or 6 being pretty common.

Red Headed finch males can learn to mimic other birds and even humans.

Males are easily distinguished from the females by the rust red head coloration
