In the 1970’s and early 1980’s the Waldheim Snow Jammers club hosted numerous snowmobile races. In 1973-74 they built a ½ mile oval with 20’ high end banks. Bleachers built in 1977 and 1978 had capacity for over 5,000 spectators. Over the succeeding years professional teams representing the major brands (Skidoo, Arctic Cat, Polaris, etc.) regularly travelled to Waldheim to participate in feature races. In 1982, the World Series of snowmobile racing was hosted in Waldheim. In subsequent years two ball diamonds were built in the infield and various other events such as Show and Shine and firework displays also occurred here. The following are some links that provide more information on this part of Waldheim’s history.
