Geocache Description:

This event and the associated Wherigos are in honor of cache_n_out, Folboter JAF, and all the other bikers who have populated our bike trails with caches. Thanks!

Come one! Come all! Bring your bike! Bring your tandem bike! Bring your unicycle! Bring your big wheel! We're biking! The event begins promptly at 2pm. We will do some geo-chat concerning biking equipment, the best biking trails for geocaching, and how Wherigos work. We will plan on a "flash mob"style group photo of everyone with their bikes at 2:15pm, and the event will be over at 2:30pm. Following the event, we encourage everyone to join us on a group bike ride along the Jamestown Connector, based upon a Wherigo cartridge.

This event is a kickoff for a new Wherigo cartridge which will be released at the event. There will also be several other new traditional caches released for the event, all along the Jamestown Connector. Several of the traditionals are accessible by car, so you don't have to complete the full ride to Jamestown to access these caches. And when you log these caches, don't forget to say "found by bike." Haven't you been wanting to put that in your log?

"But I'm not a biker" ... I hear you say. Well, I'm not either! But you can still complete a portion of the Wherigo by just going 4 miles. Think about it: most of us can walk almost 4MPH, so completing the 4 miles on a bike shouldn't be too tough. It's intended to be family-friendly: I think most kids will be able to complete the 4 mile challenge. The more serious bikers can go all the way to Jamestown.

"But I don't want to race!" ... you reply, with a bit of a whine in your voice. That's fine! This isn't a race! All who complete a particular distance on the event day will share the FTF, regardless of whether they are first to finish. I expect the group will ride leisurely in groups, naturally broken up by how far they intend to go. There's nothing to be gained by racing!

"But I don't want to ride at all; can I still come?" Of course! Show up for the event and enjoy a meet and greet with your fellow cachers. When the event is over, you can head on home or go grab some of the new caches being released and claim co-FTF with the riders. But I bet you would have a great time if you rode a little bit!

Note: there are numerous other existing caches along this bike trail you might want to grab, many placed by our honorees. But don't grab them during the Wherigo time trial; the clock is ticking!

DOWNLOAD the Wherigo cartridge here. The cartridge is ready for download, but will not be active until the event.

Increment weather plan: ummm, pray for good weather!
