Croagh Patrick View Traditional Cache

The Leg O' Mutton Lake can be found on the Castlebar to Newport road in Co Mayo, it is situated on a loop of road that enters and exits onto the main road.  

Its claim to fame is that Princess Grace of Monaco's grandfather, John Bernard Kelly, was born in a two-roomed cottage overlooking the "Leg of Mutton" lake at Drimurla where he eked out a living before emigrating to the US in 1887.

The cache is a small camouflaged plastic box. Please ensure the lid of the box is replaced firmly and the cache is returned to its original position.

Situated along the loop of road that leads to and from the Leg o' Mutton lake.  The cache position boasts scenic views of Croagh Patrick and the surrounding countryside.

The road is narrow so please ensure you park carefully, there are various safe parking locations along the road. Keep your eyes on your children and pets as this is a public roadway.
