Having lived on the Coast of Carolina for 20 years, I suddenly found myself landlocked in Tennessee for the better part of two years recently. While there I placed some 40 caches, all named after Jimmy Buffett songs to remind me of the sea until I could return.
Now that I'm here in Beaufort, I've decided to place some caches to celebrate that I'm finally back to the sea, though for how long is anyone's guess as pirates are ruthless these days.
Each cache in this series will be named after a famous North Carolina pirate. Pirate Captain Charles Bellamy began his career in the West Indies. He captured and plundered numerous vessels off the coasts of Carolina and New England. He was noted as an orator, sometimes entertaining his prisoners with flowery speeches. His pirate fleet wrecked on Massachusetts' coast in 1726. Only Bellamy and seven of his crew members were saved. They were tried, condemned, and hanged in Boston that same year.
Some rules of the high seas as you seek this treasure:
- Remember, this is a HIGH MUGGLE area, so use your vehicle to provide cover. Stealth is definitely required.
- Bring your own pen. This cache is a micro.
- Please replace EXACTLY as you find it or as it was "meant to be placed," and hopefully both of these will ring true when you locate this cache.
Congratulations to #1audioman on FTF!!!
