Geocache Description:

The Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) identified this area north of Old Murphy Dome Road as a location for a fire break to break up large expanses of black spruce. This black spruce is highly flammable, and fuels the major forest fires in Alaska. The Alaska Division of Forestry contracted to shear blade the trees, and burned the windrows in the winters of 2008-10.

This area allows a great view. You can see Pedro Dome and the Chatanika River valley from here. There are many old trails in the area north of Old Murphy Dome road.

This cache is placed at the edge of the firebreak, just off an existing trail and Old Murphy Dome Road. It should be available in the snow of wnter.

Contains a Groundspeak marble and a $2 bill for FTF.
