Bring your lawn chairs and parasols
When there is a Mega event, Geocaching HQ typically sends one of their staff members (also known as a Lackey) to attend. For the 2014 COG Spring Fling event, they are sending CathyH. We convinced Cathy to book a few extra days off so she could also visit Ottawa for the Canada Day celebrations. If you have never made it out to a Mega Event, or to Groundspeak Headquarters, this is your chance to meet one of the coolest Lackeys! She is not only a Lackey, but also a reviewer and an avid geocacher with well over 10,000 finds.
We will be meeting in Half Moon Bay Park at the South end of Ottawa. This is a newly developed park which includes a waterpark, so be sure to bring the kids. There is not much in the way of shade here, however, so if it is hot and sunny, you might want to bring your own umbrella or parasol for shade. You will also need to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on as there are no picnic tables.
If it is raining, there is a covered pavilion next to the waterpark. I don't expect the waterpark would be busy in the rain, so we should be able to gather there instead.
