The sand grounds, which Wanna is built on, was brought here by the glaciers of the ice-age before last the ice-age. The area where the cache is located was used by a local farmer’s cooperative to dig out sand for building purposes. In the first half of the 20th century it was also used as a garbage dump. Until ten years ago, you could find a lot of junk here, when you were a child playing. Everything from the smallest plastic parts to cars and old oil barrels etc. But as this area is inside the watershed area of the Wanna waterworks, some smart people found out that leakage from here might not increase the water-quality. So, just about the time when geocaching started, the county of Cuxhaven decided to take over this area and remove all junk from the grounds. This work is completed now and kids can play here again without risking cutting themselves on rusty car-parts.
Back in my younger years, we put some candles in the tree that the cache is located in, on the first day of advent each year. Now this tree has become quite big. Good hunting!
