Geocache Description:

Join us for a picnic breakfast on McNabs Island, at Wreck Cove beach.

Congratulations to Salty_ca for getting "First to Find" for his always fantastic logs.

This is going to be an early morning event on McNabs Island. If you wish to stay longer, you are free to do so. There are currently 55 caches on McNabs and more will be published on the day of the event.

We will do a draw of names for the FTF for the event itself, for anyone who attends and signs the logbook. Name will be listed on the event afterward.

There will be a competition for the new caches on the island and FTFs will only be awarded to the literal first to find for each cache.

Passage has been arranged for you for this event with one of two water taxis, but it is really important for us to know an estimate of the numbers, so please log your Will Attend if you are planning to go

To get around the island:
Bring a bicycle to help you get around faster. It will be extremely difficult to impossible to find all caches in one day. You won`t be able to use your bikes on all trails, but it will make traversing the main trails a lot faster.

The ferry cost is $20.00 per person.

The plan:

8:00 am - Meet at McNabs Island Ferry, Fisherman's Cove, Eastern Passage

8:05 am - Take ferries to McNabs Island (multiple trips)

9:00 am - Breakfast on the beach

News Updates Due to Questions:

  • There is no breakfast being served. Bring your own picnic food and water.

  • The $20.00 fee is for the ferry, NOT for breakfast.

  • There is no food or water available on the island at all. You must bring your own.

  • The new cache coordinates will be provided on paper at the event.

  • The new caches are set to be published at 8:00 am that morning, but we've had the publishers get the time-zone wrong before and publish them a few hours late, so don't count on them being available to download.

  • There are NO BATHROOMS on the island.

  • There are several outhouses, but the island is very large and you are on your own for most of the day.

  • There is NO SCHEDULED departure time. We haven't booked the ferry for return trips. (You have to stay forever, ha ha.)

  • Each person must arrange their own pick-up time from the ferry managers when you arrive.

  • If you want to get all (or most) of the caches, this will be an ALL-DAY EVENT for you. Arrange your pick up time accordingly.

  • Once you have confirmed your return time, you MUST stick to your chosen time, so the ferry managers can arrange their schedule for the day.

  • For New and First-Time Cachers: YES, you need to load all the caches onto your GPS before you arrive.

  • For the newly placed caches, you will need to enter the coordinates by hand.

  • No, there will be no way to upload the caches at the event, unless you use an iPhone or an Android for your caching, and only then if the new caches are published on time. DON'T RELY ON THIS!
