Geocache Description:

Please join us at Smileys Provincial Park from 2 to 5 pm to help the park staff show the general public how to geocache and how to use GPS units. If you haven't already tried the NS Park passport caches, there will be some paper passports on hand, along with some friendly helpers to get you started. The Park is located 6.5 km east of Brooklyn, Hants County just off Route 14. Our civic address is: 109 Clayton McKay Rd, Hwy 14, Brooklyn.

Learn the many uses of GPS units, how to use them and have fun.  The afternoon will involve a treasure hunt for multiple geocaches, inside will be a puzzle piece for your family or yourself to find.  You must collect all of them to put the puzzle together, decode it using the secret code and then find the buried treasure!  You are welcome to bring your own GPS unit to learn to use (you  must be able to enter coordinates).  A limited number of GPS's can be provided.  Pre-registration is required.   Children must be accompanied by an adult. We will meet by the playground at the shelter in the park. Dress for weather conditions.  You will be walking in a wooded area, so wear appropriate footwear.  Bring hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and a GPS unit if you have one.   Sponsored by the NS Department of Natural Resources. To register contact Kara at mccurdkl@gov.ns.ca or phone (902) 758-7232.
