Geocache Description:

If you are looking for a find during your Staten Island Ferry Ride, check out GC56272

From Boats, Bikes, Cars and Trains, this Cache is in a series of caches that highlight the proposed North Shore Greenway that will tie together the Kill Van Kull, the North Shore Railroad and Richmond Terrace.

This Cache will take you to the North Shore Esplanade, a retaining wall that stretches from Victory Blvd to Snug Harbor Rd. over two miles long, and one of the largest man made structure in America when it was built. It was nicknamed “The Million Dollar Wall.”

The trees blocking your view of the Harbor and the Kill Van Kull are growing on the Railroad Right-of-way at the bottom of the wall. The City cuts these trees down every few years and then you can see the full beauty of this park.

This Park is grossly un-kept and underutilized but in a few years it might become world known as the New York Wheel, with hotels and a new shopping mall. below is a proposed drawing of this park in the future.
