Manitoulin Island Co-op Letterboxing Weekend
The Mid-Western Ontario Geocachers
Welcome you to the Island

At the posted Coordinates you will find a complete Geocache / LetterBox hybrid

This is a Geocache / LetterBox Hybrid hidden to celebrate a Co-op Camping Weekend.

For those who are unfamiliar with LetterBoxing we will try to describe it. LetterBoxing is very similar to Geocaching with the exception that those who seek letterboxes seldom use GPSr units but rely mainly on hints that are posted on a website. The first LetterBox was hidden back in the 1854 but only became popular in North America in the late 1990's
Another difference is that LetterBoxers do not trade swag but exchange stamp impressions which most LetterBoxers custom carve themselves. LetterBoxers stamp their trail/signature stamp image into the logbook and write any notes they want to add the same as a geocacher would do. They then make an impression of the Letterbox stamp in their own logbook.
Please feel free to join the letterbox fun. There are not nearly as many letterboxes in Ontario as Geocaches, but it is a nice supplement to geocaching.

In this box, you will find a baggie with a regular Geocaching logbook. If you are here for the Smilie, go ahead and sign in. You will also find a baggie that holds the actual LetterBox stamp and a logbook for stamp impressions. If you have your personal stamp, please feel free to "Stamp-In". The box itself is a 15oz, loc-n-loc, that is labeled as a Geocache. It is only big enough for the logs and the stamp, so Please - No Trade Items. Depending on how much snow we get, this one may be winter friendly, or it might get snowed in (Manitoulin winters can be a bit unpredictable).

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE THE HAND CARVED STAMP !

This stamp image was hand-carved by "Rubber Rabbit", and is a reminder of a different Island.

Official FTF goes to SweetPea57 and Cleo23 who had the joy of signing a slightly used logbook.
