Geocache Description:

Vestara Vág is the port of Tórshavn.

Beware of mugglers. This cache was once found by the police and investigated. Luckily it was returned to some friendly geocachers, who put it back in place. Sadly, the container had been drilled and was damaged, so it was replaced with another one! See log history for all the funny details.

 




Tórshavn is one of the world’s smallest capitals, with just 19,000 inhabitants. But every year a great number of cruise ships visit Tórshavn, which is one of the most popular ports in the North Atlantic. From the location of this geocache you have a view over the west harbour and if you are lucky, you will see a cruise ship filled with guests, eager to come ashore. 

When you're faced towards the sea, the main hospital Landssjúkrahúsið is at your right. Landssjúkrahúsið, originally named Dronning Alexandrines Hospital after the Danish Queen, was founded in 1924. In the 1960’s the hospital was expanded and officially declared the National Hospital of the Faroe Islands. The last large expansion of the hospital was completed in 2004.

This is a busy street so beware of mugglers!.

 

 

The cache is a magnetic micro cache.

Update march 2015: During the solar eclipse week I replaced the black nano container with another magnetic cahe, a bit larger. This one should open easily. The weather in Faroe Islands is very humid and therefore the small nanocontainers quickly get rusty and stuck. Regards, Team Patmid.
