The exposed quarry faces give an opportunity to observe the construction of a hill. At the listed coordinates you will find the first of a series of information boards. From these boards and your observations of the quarry you must answer the following questions.
Please do not put your answers in your logs, but email them to Doctor Owl for approval. Logs that have not been accompanied by the correct answers will be discretely queried and if necessary deleted.
1. Buckled Sea Bed
What are the two main minerals in this quarry? When were they deposited?
2. Layers of Sediment
In the quarry wall in front of you the layers of sediment can be clearly seen. What are the main angles into which they have been folded?
3. Ancient Sea Bed
What is preserved on this face and how were they created?
4. Folded Quartzite
What were some of the blocks from this quarry used for? Can you see them from here?
5. ?
This sign is missing. You must suggest wording for its replacement. You may provide geological information describing the face in front of the sign, invent a Dreamtime-like legend to explain its formation or provide an imaginative account. Feel free to be creative. (You may include your answer to only this question in your log.)
Remember to take photos from the lookout. They are not required for completion of the Earthcache, but you'll want to anyway.
