The Lithonia's Women's Club building was constructed in 1928 using locally quarried granite. The Women's Club operated a lending library out of this building, which was the first public library in Lithonia and the first lending library in DeKalb County. The first library in DeKalb County opened in 1907 in the private home of Lula Almand. Miss Almand's library bookshelf is on display inside the Lithonia Women's Club today. Once segregated by race, class, and gender, today the clubhouse can be enjoyed by all of Lithonia's citizens.
