CZ PET je zkratkou pro polyethylentereftalát, což je termoplast ze skupiny polyesterů. Je používaný pro výrobu nádob na potraviny a nápoje, oblečení, díly pro automobilový průmysl a celou řadu dalších produktů.
PET byl vyvinut v roce 1941 dvěma chemiky - Johnem Rexem Whinfieldem a JamesemTennantem Dicksonem z britské společnosti Calico Printers v Manchesteru. Poté jej nechali společně se svým zaměstnavatelem patentovat. Tehdy byl používán pro syntetická vlákna jako jsou Polyester, Dacron® a Etylén®. V roce 1973 nechal Nathaniel Wyeth patentovat PET lahve.
PET je velmi inertní materiál, který je odolný vůči mikroorganismům a nevykazuje žádnou reakci s potravinami. Z tohoto důvodu je doporučován pro balení potravin, nápojů a léků. PET byl schválen zdravotnickými organizacemi celého světa jako bezpečný materiál pro potraviny a nápoje. PET je recyklovatelný, dlouhodobě udržitelný. Právě tento materiál je v celosvětovém měřítku nejvíce recyklován.
EN Polyethylene terephthalate, commonly abbreviated PET, is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. It is used in synthetic fibers; beverage, food and other liquid containers; thermoforming applications; and engineering resins often in combination with glass fiber.
PET was developed by two chemists - John Rex Whinfield and Dickson James Tennant from Calico Printers company in Manchester in 1941. They patented it together with their employer. It was used for synthetic fibers such as polyester, Dacron® and Ethylene®. Nathaniel Wyeth patented PET bottle in 1973.
PET is a highly inert material that is resistant to microorganisms and shows no reaction with food. For this reason it is recommended for packaging of food, beverages and medicines. PET has been approved by health authorities around the world as a safe material for food and beverages. PET is recyclable and sustainable. It is the most recycled material in the world.
